Friday! Hurray! Hurray! Errr.. I mean Saturday.

Yes, apparently while I was in a flu-induces haze, I forgot to post this, even though I had it READY to go for Friday. Blergh.

Happy Friday!

I’m finally feeling a little better! How are you doing? Do you have any big weekend plans?

Yesterday Brendan and I went to Princeton New Jersey (which is such an amazing place).  We got this really amazing olive oil and strawberry balsamic at Carter & Cavero: Old World Oil Company, and visited a kitchen gadget  store called Kitchen Kapers.  It was so much fun being there, in this beyond charming college town, just the two of us focusing on each other.  It is wonderful being out together, and to feeling like we did those first few months of being together.

Here we are at Carter & Cavero:

Here I am tasting all of the delicious balsamic vinaigrettes.

There was such a huge selection of oils and vinaigrettes, we had a hard time picking our favorites.  In the end we got Truffle Extra-Virgin Olive Oil (so wonderful), Strawberry balsamic, Garlic Extra-Virgin Olive Oil, Tuscan herb Extra-Virgin Olive Oil, and Frantoio Extra-Virgin Olive Oil… Needless to say, we won’t be needing EVOO any time soon!

Also, here are somethings that I’ve been eyeing all week:

A la Patricia Blanchet

These shoes are awesome.  I’ve been wanting to find a pair similar to this for a few years, but nothing really spoke to me like these do.

I love the look of driftwood. Whenever I see a cool drift wood piece it makes me want to learn carpentry so that I could have the ability to make furniture with pieces of awesome wood like the piece above.

Brendan would never let me do this, and I’m not sure I would, but it’s pretty cool, right?

Smitten Kitchen’s Porch Swing sounds truly sumptuous.  Now that the weather is getting warming, I see myself having many a gin based cocktail on balmy New Jersey nights. Yum.

Once again, I pay homage to that glorious hue Kelly Green.  This room, designed by Christina Murphy is to die for.  Brendan and I both thought this was such a great look.  Maybe we will replicate it someday.. : )

And I’ll leave you with the sage advice of Ronald Swanson:

Have a stellar weekend! May all your dreams come true.

Chesterfield Love

Recently I’ve spent a long time trolling the internets  for Chesterfield couches.  I absolutely love how this couch is retro, but modern, and very comfortable looking.  What do you think about Chesterfield couches? Would you have one in your home?

I love this room.  It may be too flashy for my own house, but I love the baby blue Chesterfield.

I love this black leather Chesterfield.  It’s funny, when Brendan and I got married, I told him (sweetly) to lose his black leather bachelor furniture.  If he had had a Chesterfield, I’d probably be writing this blog while lounging on it right now.

I love this one.  It looks well-used and extremely comfortable.  Wouldn’t you love to curl up on this couch to read? I know I would.

LOVE THIS. This would probably drive Brendan nuts, but I would so get that couch…all the furniture actually.

That’s all for now, folks.

Anchors away my dear, anchors away.

Hello there,

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I love all things nautical.  I love nautical clothing, but I also love nautical decor.  I think that this room might become my perfect maritime space.

I’m not big on having a lot stuff covering every surface, but I do like the looks of the rope.

I love the old map.  I’ve always thought that maps were cool, so there would definitely be one in my nautical room.

And of course, TONS of stripes! EVERYWHERE!

Seriously, I love stripes and nautical-wear so much, our future children will be wearing stuff like this, all the time.

That’s all for now… Surprisingly enough, I didn’t find a ton of stuff on Pinterest. Ah well. I’ll have to keep looking.

Kelly Green

Hi there,

I’ve been thinking a lot about Kelly Green colored  accent furniture.  I have a bright Kelly Green purse, and when I see it sitting on my couch, I can’t help but be interested in  throwing in some bright green accents.

A quick note on campaign dressers: I am in love with them.  Some day I plan to accessorize a plan dresser with campaign style hardware for our bedroom… At the rate we’re going, it’s going to be awhile, but a girl can dream, can’t she?

Isn’t it *such* a great color? I am seriously (more maybe just cerealy) considering getting some nice Kelly Green accents up in here.  Do you have a color that you’re wanting to introduce into your home? What is it?

Happy Thursday everyone, the week is almost over.

Friday! Hurray! Hurray!

Happy Friday everyone!

Yesterday was not the greatest of days, but I definitely woke up this morning feeling good.  Today is going to be a good day, and here’s why:

1.  I bought potting soil… Okay, I know that’s not very exciting, but I am thrilled about what I’m going to do with it.  I am going to make a terrarium! Brendan and I are also going to plant basil this weekend.  That’s right folks, we’re going to be eating a looooooot of pesto, and I for one, could not be more excited.

2. I made a marinade for chicken this morning.  Again, not very exciting, right? Wrong! I am making Smitten Kitchen’s Thai Chicken Legs  and Mango Slaw.  It’s going to be so wonderful.  I love that I have already done some of the work, so I won’t have to scramble to serve dinner at a reasonable hour.

4. Dexter and his best buddy Cooper.  These guys have a classic bromance going.  We are pet-sitting for our friends, and use-to-be neighbors, while they are waiting to move into their new home.  Coop has finally settled into life at Casa de L, and I am having a good time watching Dexy and Coop loaf about, and play like puppies.

4. The Hunger Games! Brendan and I are going to go to the movies this weekend to see Katnis kick butt.  I am psyched. after reading the books I definitely wanted to take up archery… Was I the only one?

5. Spring! The air smells sweet.  There’s something kind of intoxicating about the smell of flowers and freshly cut grass. It makes me want to wear sun dresses to twirl in.  I guess I’ve never really grown out of twirling.

That’s all for now.

Friday! Hurray! Hurray!

Hello lovelies,

Happy Friday! Did you have a good week? More importantly, do you have good weekend plans? Brendan and I are going to the DMV today (womp womp), but are following that trip up with dinner my wonderful Aunt Cindy and Uncle Bob and their boys.  No word yet on where we’re going, but they like good food too, so it’s going to be fun fun fun.

Anywho, I thought I would take this time to share a few things that I am really loving right now.

1. House plants! I have been wanting to put a couple plants in our  living room and downstairs area, aside from my wonderful ModCloth fakies, and Rosemary. Here are some that are pretty cool:I think I am going to have to make myself a terrarium soon.

2. A Quasi-Sputnik Lamp, all Little Green Notebook, isn’t she a beaut?

This thing so so very cool; and from LGN’s DIY instructions, it looks pretty easy.  As some of you may know, Brendan and I are renters, and so putting in a different light fixture would be a great way to jazz up the space, without making any huge modifications to the house… Besides, our land lord has put a lot of very dated lights and fixtures in the house, that don’t go without aesthetic.

3.The ukulele! Ever since seeing this adorable video, I have become very interested in playing an instrument.  This is so way far off (believe me, Mother), but when we have kiddos, it would be great to be able to sing and play for them. Some of my fondest memories of school was singing songs while my 1st and later 2nd grade teacher played the guitar.

Doesn’t it look like fun!? I geeked out over this video when I first saw it, and the feeling hasn’t worn off yet, so I think it’s time to start looking for one on the cheap on Craigslist or something.

4. Downton Abbey!

I finally got Brendan to watch the first season of Downton Abbey, and we promptly moved on to season two! We are totally obsessed with this show, and really enjoy all of the stiff upper lip British reserve. No one does restrained passion like the Brits.

We haven’t finished the season yet, so no spoilers, please. But seriously, this is an AWESOME show.

That’s all folks! Have a great weekend!

Holy Giant Prints, Batman!

Hello again,

I was just reading Little Green Notebook‘s post of making huge prints for four dollars, and am feeling very inspired. Our house’s walls are almost completely blank, save for some Chinese scrolls that Brendan got in China, and an Arizona Highways calendar featuring the desert that I love, in our kitchen. I would love love love to put hang several large pictures in our house for the price of one normal print of the same size. The only question that remains is which photos to choose. We have a lot of really gorgeous photos from our wedding, courtesy of ElleBee Photography, it’s just a matter of which ones to choose. Or should we pick some pictures of places that we love? A desert scene? A Minnesota scene? What?

I don’t know which ones to pick.  I suppose now that I have the information that I can wait until I find what’s just right and make a choice.

Will you printing out any large prints??

Spring’s A-Comin’

You know what that means: wedding season.

Now, if you’re anything like me, you dread having to find that perfect outfit.  That’s why when my friend Geri of A Girl and her Mixer, June asked me to come up with some outfit ideas for a spring wedding she’s attending, I leapt at the chance to brainstorm and overcome my wedding guest dress fear.

You guys have to go visit Geri’s website.  She is totally brilliant in the kitchen, but don’t take my work for it, look at these pictures.

Banana Coconut Muffins

Grilled Shrimp Pizza

Délicieux, non?

Okay, now that i’m hungry, let’s move on to my favorite wedding wear.

I love love love this dress. I think this cut of dress is flattering on a lot of body types, and that it won’t be going out of style any time soon.  When I saw “500 Days of Summer” I fell in love with the dress Zooey D wore, and wished that I could find one that was similar.  Look no further ladies, it’s right here. : )  I also am a fan of the moderate heel at weddings, if only because they are easier to dance in.

Cute dress, cute shoes, nice jewelry.  This dress would be comfortable and unique, garnering lots of compliments from fellow Anthro-lovers everywhere.

So, Geri said she wanted to get away from the LBD, and while I totally understand, I have to say, that the LBD is the ultimate in wedding wear.  If you want to breathe new life into that tired old black dress, pair it with a brightly colored shoe, and fun accessories. : )

I love this dress.  It feels kind of like Monet’s waterlilies, which is cool, especially after Rodarte turned Van Gogh’s paintings into fabric for Spring.

Pretty cool, right?

I hope that helped!Happy shopping!

The Holy Grail of Tufted Headboards

Hello again

I was just reading Little Green Notebook, one of the more awesome interior decorating websites, chalked full of DIY lovelies and great ideas for decorating su casa, when I came across THIS most excellent tutorial for making a tufted headboard.

If this project isn’t a cure for my buffet table blues, I don’t know what it… This will also bring me one step closer to having a pretty guest bedroom. : )

Remember my guest bedroom concept?

I will most likely start this once I am finished with my duvet cover, which is coming along quite nicely.

I still have some stuff to cut out, and I need to make a back to the duvet… Goody. lol. I hope to finish by tomorrow. then I can move on to my headboard.
